The John Sage Foundation is only funding projects based in the state of Maine. 

Application Instructions and Foundation Requirements of the Applicant:

 

The applicant must email the following files as attachments in either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format:

            a.       A completed application form; and

            b.       Most recent 501(c)(3) ruling.

All appliction materials should be emailed to dbrackett353@gmail.com. Please be as succinct as possible in your application.  We admire conservation over elegance.

 

If applying for conservation easement support, please include the terms of the easement and a single copy of the appraisal.

 

Any funds given by John Sage Foundation must be used in the manner outlined in the grant request.  If changes in the original grant proposal become desirable, amendments must be agreed upon by both John Sage Foundation and the grantee and presented in writing.

 

Grant Reporting Requirements:  Interim grant reports are due at four months into the project, and a final report is due at the completion of the project. Grant report forms are available here.

John Sage Foundation Evaluative Criteria for Proposals:

  • Does the grant request meet the mission of the John Sage Foundation?
  • Will the project benefit the relationship between many people and the environment, or reach a group which is underrepresented?
  • Will John Sage Foundation’s participation make a substantial difference to this project?
